Where a poem meets the night sky
Moon Gazing brings together two voices: the words of Brazilian poet Leonardo Lopes da Silva and an artwork by photographer Madlen Duderstedt, created especially for his poem.
The moon, the clouds and the sunset horizon were all photographed at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, one of the best places in the world for night skies. Madlen layered them with a female figure in a digital multiple exposure, so the body and the sky seem to share the same light.
From book to wall
The artwork first appeared alongside the poem in Leonardo's book The [Pulsing] Language [of a Pulsar]. This print combines both, image and poem, on one sheet: a piece about longing, distance and the quiet pull of the moon.
